Cooperation Agreement between AfRES and CASLE

On 4 December 2007, the AfRES President, Felician Komu, had an important meeting with the newly appointed Vice-President of CASLE-Caretaker for Eastern and Southern Africa Region Mr Eugene Silayo on the future of our relationships as regards hosting of annual conferences. He informed AfRES of the CASLE General Assembly elections that took place in Zealand where Joseph Anjanlekoko of Nigeria was elected President Africa Region and Silayo the Regional Vice President.

CASLE in their recent meetings in Kampala Uganda (November 2007) had agreed to organise a conference in 2008 and Kenya volunteered to host it. CASLE concerns are indeed in agreement with ours that we should be working together for the betterment of our professions. While our initial agreements in Zambia were to co-host annual conferences on alternate basis, it is now agreed that we invite each other to participate in our events, identify areas of common interests where we can share our efforts and compliment each other as resources may allow.

What this means for AfRES is that we can go ahead with our scheduled events for 2008 and even 2009, and we invite our colleagues to participate. The level of participation need not be limited to attending the conference but can also be in co-sponsoring events at the Conference.

CASLE is subsequently planning 2008 Conference and since AfRES is already organizing its during August, CASLE has shifted its earlier-planned August 2008 Conference to November 2008.
